I found a very interesting article with some background information children in prison. This topic is one that we did not research much for our presentation, but it is still a very controversial issue. Three statistics from this article stood out to me, but the entire article is very interesting, so don't be afraid to read the whole thing!.Plus, its a pretty short article. Anyway, back to the statistics. 3000 children nationwide have been tried and given a life sentence with absolutely no possibility of getting out of jail, ever. Children as young as thirteen years old have been given the death penalty. Roughly 10,000 children are being incarcerated in adult prisons where they are five times more likely to be sexually assaulted. My question to our readers is: How do you think the law should deal with juvenile offenders? And how do you feel about the life sentences and the death penalty when it comes to children and teenagers?
